What happens once my Invisalign treatment is complete?

What happens once my Invisalign treatment is complete?

As you near the end of your Invisalign orthodontic treatment, you'll probably begin wondering what happens next. Here’s a little from our Surrey dentist on what to expect once your Invisalign treatment is complete!

Teeth Whitening

Often our patients choose to whiten their teeth once their Invisalign treatment is complete. Many feel that whitening their teeth helps to highlight their straight new smiles!

If you'd like to learn more about teeth whitening, please make an appointment to discuss your options with your Surrey dentist at Guildford Dental any time!

Maintenance

The maintenance portion of your orthodontic treatment will start once your Invisalign treatment has reached an end. Generally this means one thing, you'll begin wearing a retainer.

As a result of the straightening process, after any type of orthodontic treatment the teeth will not be as firmly set in the surrounding tissues as they once were. In order to keep them from moving back out of position, you will need to wear a retainer for awhile.

At first, to give your teeth an opportunity to settle into their new positions, you'll have to wear your retainer full time. After awhile, once your teeth have settled, you will likely be able to downgrade to part-time retainer wear at night, on weekends, or on certain days of the week.

Regular Dental Checkups

To keep your straight new smile healthy, of course you will have to visit your dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups, just like you always have. But, now that your Invisalign treatment is complete you won't need to attend the extra Invisalign-specific checkup appointments. That means, while we’ll still be seeing you regularly, it won’t be as often!

A New Straight Smile

Naturally, the very best thing about finishing your Invisalign treatment will be the beautiful, straight smile you’ll have as a result!

If you have more questions about what to expect after your Invisalign treatment, contact our dentists for a consultation today!
